WaterVapor Satellite 9:15 pm 11/15/2010
The several days of beautiful fall weather have come to an end. Although we were able to salvage today (Monday), the forecast get's bleak for the next 24 hours or so. A significant shortwave trough in the mid levels of the atmosphere will progress east/northeast, and at the surface, a strengthening surface low pressure will pass to the north of the region. A connection to the moisture in the southern jet stream will bring the potential for very heavy rain. In addition, our area is forecast to briefly pass into the warm sector of the system, where increasing temperatures may bring the chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms. This system should exit the region by Wednesday afternoon. Stay tuned to New York  Metro Weather for official storm updates, including watches/warnings and other local hazards. Tonight (Monday Night): Mostly cloudy, with a 50% chance of showers. Low temperature near 50, much warmer than previous nights. Rain should be light to moderate. Winds light and northeast.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a 60% chance of rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High temperature near 59. Winds out of the east at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a 100% chance of rain. The rain could be heavy at times, with a chance of a thunderstorm. Low temperature near 54. Winds east/southeast and gusty, 10 to 15 miles per hour.
