The week ahead will feature some rather dramatic changes in the sensible weather across the entire area. It certainly won't be a pleasant week all around, and finding the sun may be hard at times, but it won't be a complete wash out either. The main culprit will be a broad upper level trough approaching from our west, and a strengthening southeast ridge which will create a height field and surface gradient across the Eastern US. Monday will likely feature plenty of clouds, although some breaks are possible in the afternoon with warming temperatures. Tuesday, with a warm front passing north towards the city, will likely be the warmest of the days with temperatures in the mid 70's inland and upper 60's even on Western LI (cooler on the beaches). Wednesday and Thursday, more clouds return and the chances for rain increase, although most of the precipitation should ultimately stay to our west. Regardless, clouds, temperature fluctuations, and a chance of rain will be in the cards this week. Enjoy it for what it's worth, though, this week will feature something for everybody! Today (Monday): With a warm front to our south, and the flow turning southeast and then south, plenty of clouds will move from west to east across the area and temperatures will reach only into the mid 60's. Any breaks of clouds could allow some areas to break into the 70's. In the city, mostly cloudy, with a high around 67. South winds 7 to 10 miles per hour.

Tonight (Monday Night): The clouds will hang around through the evening, and there's a slight chance of isolated showers near the warm front. Winds will remain south, with a low near 55 in the city. Chance of showers is 20%.

Tuesday: How far north the warm front gets is the question. Clouds will hang around in the morning, and then thin by afternoon..with a high near 74. Temperatures could be higher, in the upper 70's, across northeast NJ. Light south winds around 3 to 6 miles per hour should prevail.
