An active weather pattern is finally forecast to end, after the potential for a few scattered showers today, and give way to high pressure and cooler than normal temperatures for a few days as we head towards the end of the work week and towards the weekend. This pattern will be dominated by cool north winds and brisk days with high's in the lower 50's at best, calm and cold nights, and the potential for more than one night of below freezing temperatures as far to the coast as the immediate suburbs. The winds from yesterday have died down as the system and pressure gradient have moved away from the region. Still, a weak system passing near the area could allow for some showers this afternoon. After that, high pressure builds in and stays here for several days. A gradual warming trend isn't expected to begin until the beginning of next week.
Today (Thursday): Partly cloudy with a high temperature in the mid 50's. Calmer winds, out of the west at 5 to 10 miles per hour. A slight chance of a shower in the afternoon, chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tonight (Thursday Night): Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower early. Cold, with a low temperature near 39. Winds out of the northwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
