...Significant winds expected Saturday and Saturday Night...

A strong storm system over the Mid Atlantic will deepen today and a high pressure to the north will create a strengthening pressure gradient. This will allow the development of strengthening easterly winds into the area. The strongest winds are forecast to occur Saturday afternoon where gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour are possible across the area. Higher gusts are expected to the east along the shores. Still, these winds coupled with heavy rains will cause dangerous travel condition. In addition, the wet ground heavy rain and high winds could cause downing of trees and power lines.

It is recommended that all loose objects outdoors that are not tied down be brought inside as they could be hazardous with these strong winds. Please exercise cautions and expect delays on bridges around the area.

A High Wind Statement means that high winds, which could cause danger and hazardous conditions, are expected over the next 24 hours. These winds should generally exceed 35 miles per hour in frequent gusts. Please keep abreast of the situation.
