...Heavy rains with the potential for flooding overnight Monday continuing into Tuesday
A strong storm system will develop southeast of the region overnight tonight into early Tuesday. A very strong fetch of sub tropical moisture and dynamics will set the stage for heavy rains overnight, specifically after 10pm and continuing into Tuesday morning...possibly past noon Tuesday. The rain is expected to be very heavy at times and may cause driving conditions to be come extremely dangerous and hazardous. Significant flooding of urban and low lying areas, as well as smaller local rivers may occur. Certain roads may become impassable at times.
The rain is expected to continue into the evening hours today. During the heavy rain, stay indoors. Only travel if it is essential or an emergency. The heavy rains also pose a threat for power outages with falling trees, owing to wet ground, heavy rain, and forecasted winds.
...A Heavy Rain Warning is issued when at least 1" of rain is expected to fall within a 6 to 10 hour period. Travel may be very hazardous during this heavy rain, and significant flooding is possible especially in urban and low lying areas as well as near small streams and rivers.
