Flood Warning
3:30pm EST March 14th, 2010

...This is not an official National Weather Service product and should not be confused for an official watch, warning or advisory...

Flood Warning in effect until 12:00am for the following counties...

In New Jersey: Passaic, Morris, Somerset, Middlesex, Essex, Hudson, Union, Somerset, Mercer, Hunterdon

In New York: Orange, Rockland

In Connecticut: Fairfield, New Haven, Litchfield

As of around 300pm March 14th, 2010 heavier and steadier rains had ended across the southern and central portions of the forecast office. Rain may continue on and off for the next few hours as the storm system meanders a bit south of the region. Significant flooding has already occurred and continued runoff will pose a threat for streams and rivers already over their banks. In addition, standing water will remain across urban areas and low lying areas.

Do NOT drive into standing water. Small streams and creeks and low lying areas will flood rapidly. Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Be smart--do not drive into water on a roadway. Please stay tuned for further updates on the situation.

A Flood Warning means that flooding of small streams, creeks, or rivers is expected over the next few hours or is occurring. This is a potentially dangerous situation. Keep abreast of the situation and check back for further updates.
