...Snowstorm Watch in effect from 8pm Friday through 12pm Sunday...

A strong storm system will move northeast and develop off the Mid-Atlantic
coast Friday into Saturday. Meanwhile, strong confluence and high pressure to the north of the area will remain in place. This will create a battleground between heavy precipitation, fueled by influence from the Gulf of Mexico and plentiful moisture, and the cold and dry high pressure. The result will be a very sharp cutoff in snowfall across the forecast area. Currently, it appears that Central and Southern New Jersey (essentially south of Staten Island, New York's  latitude) stands the best chance for significant snowfall in excess of 6 inches.

That said, it would not take much of a shift amongst guidance in either direction to change the forecast dramatically. For now, snow is expected to begin Friday evening and continue, heavy at times, through Saturday Night. Total snow accumulations should range from 4 to 6 inches across the northern tier of the watch area, to 10 to 14 inches across the southern tier of the watch area, away from the immediate coast.

Again, there is still significant uncertainty with this system. Please stay tuned for  more updates and safety information.

...A Snowstorm Watch means there is the potential for  significant snow, sleet, or
ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts...
