Forecast models are beginning to come into agreement on a period of above to well above normal temperatures throughout the area (throughout the entire Northeast part of the country actually), which will begin this week and continue through the next two weeks. A persistent trough on the west coast of the United States during this time period will allow for periods of ridging over the East Coast, and the advection of unseasonably warm air into the area. Although we wont be dealing with "heat", per se, temperatures could run 20 degrees above normal averages for this time of year. Forecast models are already indicating temperatures in the mid 70's for a few days during the middle part of the new work week. That being said, some caution is necessary...especially near the coast. The ocean is still cool for this time of year..and during these warm air masses, you can often see a developing sea-breeze (or a back-door cold front). The coastal areas could remain in the 50's and 60's, while areas just inland reach into the 70's. We'll have to watch carefully for any such developments -- but for now..it looks like we're about to dive into a period of very spring-like weather beginning on Monday!
