Water vapor satellite 12am 11/9/2010
Monday was one of those rare autumn days which your folks talk about over and over, how the winter started off really early with the first flakes while the leaves were still on the trees. Snow was reported in many areas throughout the tri-state, with several locations in Southwest Connecticut reporting a half inch of snow by late morning. The storm system responsible for the frozen precipitation has since weakened, and will begin to slowly move east and northeast away from the area. The result will be clearing tonight and into Tuesday. The winds will still stick around for a while, though, keeping it feeling cold although daytime highs will reach into the 50's. Beyond Tuesday, temperatures should slowly crawl towards 60 for highs by the end of the work week while we remain dry and underneath the control of high pressure. Featured image: the water vapor satellite image shows the strong storm system and associated moisture still churning off the east coast. This system will slowly turn east and northeast over the next day or so.

Today (Tuesday): Partly cloudy and then becoming mostly sunny. Still cool with high's in the mid 50's in the city, lower 50's inland. Winds out of the north still gusty at 15 to 20 miles per hour, which will make it feel more like late fall or early winter.

Tuesday Night: Remaining partly cloudy with low temperatures in the mid 40's in the city, and mid to upper 30's inland. Near freezing in the highly suburban areas. Winds calming a bit but still a bit breezy at times overnight.

Wednesday: More sun than clouds with daytime highs in the mid 50's in the city, and lower 50's inland. Winds out of the north around 5 to 10 miles per hour, although still gusty near the coast.
