Mostly clear skies and fair weather dominated the overnight hours from Monday into Tuesday, and the forecast looks to remain the same through the next few days. Low temperatures were forecast to drop into the low to mid 50's across much of the area early Tuesday morning, and the low humidity has left a distinct autumn-like feel and briskness to the air. We can thank a fresh new high pressure system, which built in after the passage of Hurricane Irene, for the genuinely pleasant weather that we can expect over the next few days. Clear skies, light winds, and a light west to northwest wind component will keep everyone happy, and even those with a love for the warm weather will get their fill as the middle of the afternoons will still feel plenty warm as high's top out in the 80's. The real difference, as we mentioned, will be during the evening, when the low dew points and clear skies allow for good cooling. The official forecast details are below. Featured image: The NAM Model's forecast high temperatures for Tuesday, August 30th, 2011, issued on the evening of August 29th, 2011.

Tuesday's Forecast: Another gorgeous late summer day is on tap, although it may feel more like fall in the early morning. To start, temperatures will be in the upper 50's to lower 60's across the interior, and the low 60's generally across more urban areas. Temperatures should warm up by afternoon, though, so shorts and a t-shirt will still suffice during the day. High temperatures will top out in the lower 80's, with a very light west wind. By evening, temperatures will begin dropping off once again, and the low dew points will make Tuesday evening another pleasant one.

Looking ahead to Tuesday Night: Although not quite as cool as the previous two nights, Tuesday Night will still feature long-sleeved shirt type weather, with low temperatures dropping into the low 60's throughout the area. The low temperature spread should be rather uniform across urban and suburban areas, and the wind component will be more westerly. Nonetheless, dew points will still be low enough to make it another very comfortable overnight.

Peek into the Long Range: The long range pattern looks to remain rather mundane, although a chance of an isolated shower or stray thunderstorm may exist on Thursday. In general, near normal temperatures look to dominate through the end of the week, with no real threats for widespread precipitation; and most importantly no severe weather hazards to speak of.
