The airmass behind the upper level trough brought on by Hurricane Irene remains a cool and fall-like one, and under full sun throughout most of the day most areas only climbed into the upper 70's to low 80's today. The forecast for tonight, and even for the next several days, doesn't look much different. Although skies will be variable, with some in and out clouds early on, improving sky conditions by evening and a cool and fresh high pressure in place will once again allow temperatures to fall off into the mid 50's in the interior. Closer to the city, temperatures will still bottom out in the upper 50's to near 60 and the air will still feel fresh compared to the high-dewpoint airmass we endured much of the weekend during the storm system. The autumn-like weather looks to continue through the middle part of the week, and although temperatures will warm up a bit by Wednesday and Thursday, overnight will still feel brisker than normal with clear skies and good radiating. The official forecast details are below. Featured image: NAM model showing low temperatures in the 50's in the interior tonight.

Tonight's Forecast: Clearing, brisk, and pleasant would all be good words to describe this evenings weather. You may want to think about bringing a long sleeved shirt or a light jacket near the beaches or far inland. The new moon and clear skies will make for a great night for stargazing--look for some of the planets which are easily viewable tonight. Low temperatures falling into the 50's inland, near 60 in the city, with a northwest breeze.

Looking Forward to Tuesday: Another gorgeous late summer day is on tap, although it may feel more like fall in the early morning. Temperatures should warm up by afternoon, though, so shorts and a t-shirt will still suffice during the day. High temperatures will top out in the lower 80's, with a very light west wind.
