New York Metro Weather has issued a Winter Storm Advisory for Sussex, Warren, Morris, Passaic, and Western Bergen counties in New Jersey... ...Rockland, Putnam, Orange and Northern Westchester counties in New York... Litchfield, Northern Fairfield, and Northern New Haven Counties in Connecticut.  This Winter Storm Advisory is valid from 10:00pm Thursday evening through 1200pm Friday afternoon. A Winter Storm Advisory is issued when forecasters expect a light to moderate winter weather event to occur over a period of time, which may cause travel difficulties or delays. During periods of snow, travel may become increasingly difficult, especially if snow accumulates rapidly. Currently, forecasters are expecting snow accumulations to range between 2 to 5 inches. *Hazards...Snowfall which may accumulate on roads and other surfaces through Friday morning

*Accumulations...Total storm accumulations are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches by the time the snow ends Friday. Higher amounts are expected to the northwest in the higher elevations, with lower amounts further south and east.

*Impact...Travel may become periodically difficult during the snow.

*Timing...Rain and snow may turn to mostly snow overnight Thursday into Friday before ending Friday afternoon.

*Confidence...Confidence in the advisory is moderate.

*Information...
A Winter Storm Advisory means that a moderate winter weather event is expected across the area, specifically 2 to 4 inches of snow with this event. This wintry precipitation may cause some moderate travel difficulties or delays. Occasionally, heavier precipitation may cause very difficult travel especially if it accumulates rapidly. Please prepare for slippery and snowy roads and  keep alert for updates on the situation.
