Northeast US Radar 9:50am 12/6/10
Amidst a very cold, wintry airmass we discussed in detail yesterday, areas of light snow and flurries have been reported this Monday morning throughout the entire Tri-State region. These flurries are being caused by an upper level disturbance over the region, and some are actually streaming in from the northwest teaming up with both moisture off the Great Lakes and the moisture in our area from the Atlantic. Cold air advection as well as some very weak instability on forecast soundings this afternoon suggests that these flurries or snow showers could continue until evening. Cloud cover and the winds strengthening out of the northwest is suggestive of high temperatures in the low to mid 30's today. Bundle up, and enjoy the wintry weather. There's more on the way.
