This morning has featured areas of heavy, dense fog that are now burning off. The rest of the morning and early afternoon, our area will be in the warm sector ahead of an approaching cold front. For the time being, a southerly flow will continue to pump in a warm and more moist airmass, leading to temperatures in the mid 60's by early afternoon across much of the area. A mix of sun and clouds along with this warmth will make it a great day, at least through the early afternoon as mentioned. With time, a cold front will approach from the west, bringing with it increasing clouds and a chance of showers. Behind the front, colder air will pour into the region and northwest winds will increase in speed overnight into Wednesday. High's on Wednesday will be much lower than today, struggling to get out of the 40's in spots. By Thanksgiving Day, a storm system will be approaching from the southwest. The area should stay mostly dry throughout the day, but by evening, light precipitation could begin. The precipitation could actually begin as snow or sleet north and west, especially in the higher elevations before quickly turning to rain. Stay tuned to New York Metro Weather for the detailed Thanksgiving Day forecast. Featured image: Latest live camera view of New York City.
