..Strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon...

A frontal boundary will serve as the focus for the development of scattered strong and severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Temperatures and dew points have increased dramatically over the past few hours--and the atmosphere is becoming increasingly unstable. With a weak cap in place, storm initiation is expected at or around 18z this afternoon. Vigorous updrafts capable of producing large hail, damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado are expected.

In addition, dangerous and frequent cloud to ground lightning is forecast in these storms as well as extremely heavy downpours. Please keep abreast of the situation this afternoon, especially for any watches or warnings that may be issued.
