Statement as of 1:50pm May 04th, 2010

...Severe Weather Watch in effect through 0800pm.

*Discussion...scattered showers and thunderstorms developing downstream across
portions of PA and NY will continue to traverse eastward towards the area. Steep lapse
rates and diurnal heating have led to moderate atmospheric destablization. Dry low levels
suggest wind damage is possible in any robust updrafts..as well as the potential for
small hail given the very cold mid level temperatures.

* Precipitation type...rain with thunder

* Hazards...Damaging wind (Moderate), Large Hail (Low), Heavy Rains (Moderate),

Tornadoes (Very Low).

* Timing...the storms will move east/southeast through the area through 800pm.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

These storms have the potential to produce heavy rain, some damaging wind gusts, and 

frequent lightning. Prepare accordingly. Do not stay outside during the storm system.
