...Significant flooding and heavy rains to impact the area today...
A strong storm system will develop eastward towards the region this morning. A very strong fetch of sub tropical moisture and dynamics will set the stage for heavy rains today, specifically in the late morning into the evening hours. The rain is expected to be very heavy at times and may cause driving conditions to be come extremely dangerous and hazardous. Significant flooding of urban and low lying areas, as well as smaller local rivers may occur. Certain roads may become impassable at times.
The rain is expected to continue into the evening hours today. During the heavy rain, stay indoors. Only travel if it is essential or an emergency. The heavy rains also pose a threat for power outages with falling trees, owing to wet ground, heavy rain, and forecasted high winds.
