...Winter Storm Advisory remains in effect through 7pm Tuesday for the above counties. The Winter Storm Advisory is no longer in effect for all other continues...

Snow continues to progress from south to north/northeast as a low pressure system tracks from the Mid Atlantic to the Northeast states. The area of most favorable lift for precipitation is progressing to the northeast rather rapidly. As a result, the advisory has been trimmed to include the areas that are still receiving the steady precipitation. The snow should continue to across Northeast New Jersey for the next few hours before tapering off. There may be a lull in precipitation across most areas, before the coastal low deepens and precipitation begins to strengthen again. The wrap-around precipitation should begin to affect the forecast area by Tuesday morning and afternoon. Additional snowfall of up to an inch is possible across Northeast New Jersey..and 2 to 3 inches across Connecticut counties away from the shore--especially Litchfield.

By the time all is said and done, 2 to 5 inches of snow is expected to fall. The higher amounts (closer to 5 inches or possibly higher in isolated locales) are expected to be confined to Litchfield county in Connecticut and points northeast of there.  Precipitation is expected to wind down from southwest to northeast Tuesday afternoon and early evening.

...A winter storm advisory means that snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel
difficulties or hazards. Travel may become extremely  hazardous for periods of time.  Visibilities may be lowered. Exercise caution if you must travel during the storm. Stay tuned for more updates...
