Snow Bulletin

In New York: Suffolk

...Snow Bulletin in effect through 1pm Sunday...

A strong storm system is forecast to develop off the East Coast this weekend.
This system will pass well to the east of the area while deepening northeast of New
England. The system will then retrograde west/southwestward. Bands of precipitation
are forecast to affect New England; with models now trending towards some of these
snow bands making it as far southwest as Eastern Long Island. The latest model
guidance is somewhat consistent in indicating 0.10 to 0.25" of QPF across most
of Suffolk County, specifically eastern sections.

Forecast soundings indicate snow as the dominant precipitation type with
little to no concern for any other precipitation type. As a result, it is expected that a few
inches of snow may accumulate by Sunday across Suffolk County/Eastern Long Island.
Snow totals are generally expected to average 2 to 4 inches across the area. Travel
hazards may occur as snow may be moderate to heavy at times in any banding. There
is still considerable uncertainty with this system, so please stay abreast of the
situation over the next day or two.

A Snow Bulletin means that light amounts, generally 2 to 4 inches, of snow are expected
to fall across the area. This snow may cause some light to moderate travel difficulties
or delays. Please prepare for slippery and snowy roads and keep alert for updates
on the situation.
