NYC Area Forecast Discussion
New York MetroWeather
Forecaster: Earthlight
12pm 20 November
Calm, nice weather conditions will continue today into tonight as high pressure dominates our weather. Temperatures will rise up around 5-7 degrees warmer then yesterdays highs thanks to a warm SW fetch of temperatures. However, cold air is lurking to our north and west. Strong Coastal Low is forecasted to develop and move up the Eastern Seaboard. However, temperatures will be well above freezing. Expect almost all liquid precipitation with this event. Significant precipitation is expected with this system. On Tuesday, expect the bulk of the precipitation to begin to taper off and as cold air rushes through the backside of the system, some ice or snow may be seen in the inland areas Late Tuesday as the storm Exits.
As this storm exits, it should swing up around the entering trough and become a blocking mechanisim, to lock in the cold air pattern over our area. This will set up a very active pattern with potential for a few snowfall events. First one to deal with is a clipper system dropping out of Canada. Much Uncertainty still exsists with this system, but should it follow at least a track near the delmarva, light accumulations can be expected through some inland areas. Once again, there is still a broad area of uncertainty with this system, and we will continue to watch it as it gets closer to impact the area.
