If you somehow, some way haven't noticed, it's been quite cold outside the past few days. This morning was no exception, in fact it was the coldest morning of this year's cold season to date. Temperatures dropped into the low to mid 20's in most places, and even teens in some suburbs areas away from the immediate city. Light snow also fell in portions of Northern New Jersey, where some areas reported a trace of snow overnight. The result was a wintry scene this morning, even in areas where there was no snow there was plenty of frost on cars and grass. High temperatures today (Thursday) will most likely not get above freezing in most areas. In fact, some forecast models keep high temperatures in the 20's in areas away from the city. Long story short? Today will be the coldest day of meteorological winter to date. Overnight tonight into Friday will be another very cold night, with temperatures forecast to drop into the low 20's and teens once again. Our eyes remain peeled on the potential storm system this weekend; which forecast models are struggling with mightily the past day or two. Currently, it looks like the system should feature mostly liquid precipitation, but it does offer it's potential for snow and sleet as well. Stay tuned, and make sure to check our our full text forecast and discussion if you need the details in planning for the weekend.
