Snow Bulletin
1200pm Thursday January 7th, 2010
...This is not an official National Weather Service product and should not
be confused for an official watch, warning, or advisory...
In New York: Suffolk, Nassau, Kings, Queens, Bronx, Richmond, Manhattan, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange
In New Jersey: Sussex, Warren, Passaic, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union, Morris, Somerset, Hunterdon, Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington
In Connecticut: Fairfield, New Haven, Litchfield
...Snow Bulletin in effect through 2pm Friday afternoon...
A storm system which dropped out of Western Canada will progress eastward towards
the Ohio Valley Thursday, and then reform off the East Coast Friday. Although moisture
with the system is expected to be somewhat limited, it is expected that a swath of light
snow will progress west to east across the forecast office beginning late Thursday Night
or early Friday Morning and continuing into early Friday afternoon. The snow is forecast
to be generally light at most times, although moderate intensity cannot be ruled out.
Snow will stick to all surfaces very easily given the degree of cold air that has been in
place across the forecast area the past several days. In the end, generally 1 to 3 inches
of snow is forecast across the entire area, although some areas may end up receiving
slightly more. We would encourage all road crews to pre-salt the roads as the storm
coincides unfortunately with the morning rush hour. Although the snow totals are not
high, 1 to 3 inches of snow on very cold roads can cause travel hazards.
A Snow Bulletin means that light amounts, generally 1 to 3 inches, of snow are expected
to fall across the area. This snow may cause some light to moderate travel difficulties
or delays. Please prepare for slippery and snowy roads and keep alert for updates
on the situation.
