In what is definitely not a coincidence, a major CCB is poised to impact portions of New England through this afternoon and evening. We made a long post two nights ago regarding the development, structure, and intensity of cold conveyor belt precipitation. This post could be an important piece to draw back on as the winter approaches. We've included an image to your top left which illustrates perfectly the CCB structure which we highlighted in the previous post. The dry slot/dry punch is clearly visible via water vapor imagery, as is the warm sector, warm conveyor belt, cold front, and cold conveyor belt which hangs back over New England like a comma head-type formation. This is a very robust shortwave that is currently intensifying just southeast of Long Island. You can reference this image to see how nicely this structure fits into the model we described a few days ago.

A zoomed in image is also accessible right here. Just note that these images won't update with time. We will try to continue and update this post as the day continues on, with images and details from the impact in both our area and to our northeast. Wind will be our main concern, and our forecasters have issued a Slight Risk for strong winds this afternoon into tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates as the day progresses.

3:40pm: The surface low is now down to 984mb just east of Boston in the Gulf of Maine. A well forecasted rapidly deepening surface low by most forecast models. The cold conveyor belt did wind up a good bit further east then it was once expected to be, especially for those in Eastern New York State and Vermont, but most of New England is still feeling the brunt of this system. Very impressive on radar and satellite as well. Check out the dry slot now hitting the shore of Maine. More later as the storm continues to deepen.

5:10pm: We've uploaded a loop of all OBS and radar/satellite loops we've collected during the duration of this system. You can access them HERE. These will be updated continuously and we will make sure to continue to add images/etc as the storm continues. Currently major bright banding coming ashore in Eastern Maine just west of the robust dry slot. Very impressive signature, though there is no well developed CCB signature currently. Check it out.
