Fair weather this week, rain this weekend

The early-week heat was relatively short lived in nature, as mid level heights in the atmosphere are dropping in response to approaching trough's to our north and west. Although no rain is expected this week, temperatures will drop behind the front which passed the area. Northwest winds and cooler temperatures aloft mean the high temperatures will reach only into the 60's on Wednesday, a 30 degree drop from the 90 degree readings which shocked many in the area on Monday. However, the transient nature of the weather will continue. As soon as the cooldown is here, it will be gone -- as temperatures moderate into the 70's for highs by Friday. All eyes will then turn to a storm system this weekend which could provide the area with some much needed rainfall. Forecast models, however, remain extremely inconsistent with the exact track and strength of the system. At this point -- our forecast confidence is low on how much rain we receive or how intense the storm is. Pictured right: GFS Model showing a storm system impacting the area this weekend.

That being said, confidence is beginning to rise in a bit of a wet weekend beginning on Saturday and continuing through later Sunday. The system could be somewhat slow to move through the area as a front extends towards the area and moisture runs along it. If it does come to fruition, it would certainly be a change after a long stretch of relatively pleasant weekends. We will see!
